Get started

Set up in about two minutes

  1. 1

    Download

Use the Download for Mac button. The file is signed and notarized by Apple.

  2. 2

    Open it

Open the downloaded file, then drag the app into your Applications folder and start it.

  3. 3

Allow what you want it to do

macOS asks before AI can see your screen or press keys. Say yes only to what you want. The app shows what it still needs.

Trust

Made to be trusted on your own computer

  • Signed and notarized by Apple

Every release is signed and notarized, so macOS can check it before it opens.

  • You say yes to each permission

To see your screen or press keys for an agent, macOS asks you first. Matrx Desktop shows what it still needs, with a button to fix it.

  • Built for what stays private

Confidential Chat is designed so private chats and files stay on hardware you own. It's on the way; the rest of the app is here today.

  • Mac first, every computer next

Windows and Linux are in the plan from day one and come after the Mac version is solid.

Questions

Good to know

Which computers does Matrx Desktop run on?

Macs with Apple silicon (M1 and newer). Windows and Linux versions are coming. If you're on Windows or Linux today, the download page has an app that works for you now.

What does Confidential mean?

Confidential means a chat or agent runs on models on hardware you own, starting with your own computer and later your own server, so what you ask and share doesn't pass through anyone else's servers. It's coming soon to Matrx Desktop.

Can AI really use my computer for me?

Matrx Desktop includes the tools for it: seeing the screen, moving windows, typing and clicking, reading the clipboard, running programs and watching folders. macOS asks for your permission before any of them can run.

How does it stay up to date?

It checks for a new version every time it opens and every 30 minutes, downloads in the background, and shows a Restart button when the update is ready.

How is this different from Matrx Extend?

Matrx Extend lives inside Chrome and helps with the page you're reading. Matrx Desktop connects AI Matrx to your whole computer: your apps, files, screen and local models.
